How to set up your price book

Your price book is the list of rates you use over and over, socket outlets, day rates, standard fittings. Save one once, and it shows up as a suggestion the next time you type a similar description into a quote.

Three ways to fill it

From Price book, an empty book offers three starting points:

1. Import from a past invoice or quote. Upload a PDF or photo and Trame pulls out the line items.
2. Start with typical rates for your trade. If your company trade is set, this button prefills UK mid-range pricing you can adjust to match your own.
3. Add an item manually.

Add an item manually

1. Go to Price book and select Add item.
2. Set the Category, one of the trade categories (Plumbing & Heating, Electrical, Carpentry & Joinery, and so on) or General & Sundries.
3. Enter a Description, for example Fit new socket outlet.
4. Set Unit and Base rate (£).
5. Optionally set Markup % and VAT.
6. Select Add item.

Import from past documents

1. Select Import (or Import from the mobile ⋮ menu).
2. Choose From past invoices or quotes to upload PDFs or images, or From your Trame quotes to pull line items already used in quotes built inside Trame.
3. Review the items found. Similar items are grouped together, pick which wording to keep for each group.
4. Select the items you want, then Add {n} items.

Edit, sort and remove items

• Every field in the price book table edits in place. Changes save automatically.
• Sort by any column, Used (how many times it's been inserted into a quote) is a useful one, it defaults to most-used first.
• Filter by category using the sidebar (desktop) or the category dropdown (mobile).
• Select one or more rows to Delete them in bulk.

Use it in a quote

Once you have items saved, start typing a description in any quote line item. Matching items appear in a dropdown below the field, showing the description, category, unit and rate. Selecting one fills in the unit, rate, markup and VAT for that line and records it as a use, which is what keeps your Used sort meaningful over time.

Frequently asked

Does importing overwrite my existing items?

No. Import only adds the items you select, it never changes or removes anything already in your price book.

What if my trade isn't listed?

Add items manually or import from your own documents. The typical-rates prefill only appears when your company has a trade set.
