How to add a client

Save a customer's contact details so every job, quote and invoice you create for them lands on one record.

Save a customer once and everything you do for them, jobs, quotes, invoices, attaches to the same record, so their whole history is in one place.

Add a client

  1. Go to Clients.
  2. Select Add client. On your phone, tap and choose Add client from the menu instead.
  3. Choose Individual or Business.
  4. Enter their name. It's the only required field, everything else can wait.
  5. Add whatever else you have: email, phone, and address.
  6. Select Add client.
The Add client modal with the Individual/Business toggle, name field and address lines filled in

Trame saves the record and takes you straight to the client's page.

Note

Switch to Business and a Contact person field appears, for the actual person you deal with day to day, kept separate from the business name that appears on their documents.

You don't have to start here

A client is created automatically the first time you attach a name to a job, so if you're starting from Jobs you can add them there and skip this screen entirely. Converting an enquiry into a job does the same thing.

Frequently asked

What's the difference between Individual and Business?

Individual is for a homeowner. Business is for a company or landlord, and adds a Contact person field for the person you actually deal with. You can switch the type later if you picked wrong.

Do I need an email address to add a client?

No. Only the name is required. You'll need an email later if you want to send them a quote or invoice by email rather than sharing the link yourself.

Can two clients have the same name?

Yes, Trame doesn't check for duplicates. Search the client list first if you're not sure whether they're already on it.
