How to see profit and margin on a job

Open any job and the Money card shows what it's brought in, what it's cost you, and what's left over. It updates as you invoice and log costs, no separate report to run.

Read the Money card

Open the job. The Money section shows, depending on where the job is:

• Quoted or Accepted, the quote total, before anything is invoiced.
• Invoiced, or Paid once every invoice on the job is settled, the amount actually billed.
• Costs so far, everything logged under the job's Costs section, or None logged if nothing's been added yet.
• Profit (or Loss, if costs have overtaken revenue), with the margin as a percentage next to it.

Profit and margin only appear once the job has been invoiced. Before that, the card shows the quote total but no profit line, there's nothing billed yet to measure it against.

Add a cost from the job

1. Open the job and scroll to Costs.
2. Select Log expense.
3. Fill in the expense, it's linked to this job automatically.

Costs logged here appear in the job's Costs list and are folded into the Money card's profit figure straight away.

Frequently asked

Why is there no profit figure on my recurring job?

Recurring jobs only count invoiced visits toward profit, not the per-visit price on the schedule. Profit appears once the first visit has been invoiced.

The job shows a loss, is that right?

If logged costs are more than what's been invoiced so far, the card shows a loss. That can be genuine, or it can mean the job hasn't been fully invoiced yet, check whether every visit or stage has actually gone out.

Where do I see profit across all my jobs, not just one?

That's not on the job page. Reports shows cash flow and expenses by category across your whole business for a chosen period.
